Jersey Mike's Italian Substitute was the first copycat recipe we tried. However, he didn't know that at the time. There are so many great diners and diners along the east coast and Jersey Mikes is one of them. Nothing compares to the original Jersey Shore Subs. One of our favorite spots is the White House Side Store in Atlantic City.

See how we made Jersey Mikes

The biggest problem we had in creating this copied recipe was deciding whether to call it sandwich or sandwich. sub went.
Italy Sub-Mikes Kit Review
We're looking for a place that makes a great Italian substitute. One thing that is crucial for us is bread. It should be soft but have a great bite. The sub we ordered was the original Italian sub and it did everything that was promised. Good selection of cold cuts, sliced thin enough to form layers.
This is what a jersey substitute should taste like. You can order the sub as you like. With mayonnaise, of course. But we ordered it Mike's way. We are fans and will be back for the cheesesteak soon. The regular one was good for me, but next time I'll go for the giant.

oven rolls
Building a Jersey Mikes Italian Sub requires the best of fundamentals to pack the meat, cheese and toppings. The bread is the base on which the sub rests. look no further thanlovingbaked Italian rolls. Now Jersey Mikes bake their own buns every day, but you can find great Italian buns in many supermarkets and grocery stores.
One of the things we really like about amoroso buns is that they're baked in-house. Cooking by the fireplace creates a slightly irregular bun. Each roll is unique when it comes out of the oven and has a wonderful flavor and texture when it's on the grill.
what's in jersey mikes sub italian

Most Italian meat sandwiches are similar in that each sandwich can be slightly different, but all contain a variety of Italian meats and cheeses. The Jersey Mikes Italian Deli Sub has: provolone, ham, prosciutto, capocollo, salami and pepperoni. It took me a while to realize that the ham in the sub is regular, plain ham.
What type of meat do Jersey Mikes use?
In May 2019, Jersey Mikes announced that all pork products will be antibiotic free and will be distributed by Clemons Food Group. The pig is vegetarian and the pigs are raised on American family farms distributed by Farm Promise.
We are very impressed with Jersey Mike's commitment to this program and the excellent quality of all meats, breads, vegetables and cheeses served in the restaurant. Very nice people!
Instead of using pepperoni pizza on your sandwich, order sliced pepperoni from the grocery store counter.
Meat and cheese should be sliced thin enough that you can stack them in smooth layers. I have my deli pick number 2 on the thin sandwich slicer.
For the cheese slices. Provolone cheese. That's all. Also thinly sliced, just like the meat slices.
Jersey Mike Juice

Mike's Way involves making a sandwich with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, spices, and a mixture of olive oil and red wine vinegar that the restaurant calls "El Jugo." There is no magic in making this juice. But it's magic!
It's an easy recipe to usegood extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar. The proportions in the recipe are 3 parts oil to 2 parts vinegar. Just watch, or make some dressing ahead of time by mixing oil, vinegar, oregano, and salt in a bowl and setting aside.
The last time we were with the Jersey Mikes, the team just rocked. Nice to see the enthusiasm for the sauce jars!
How to Make Jersey Mike's Italian Sub at Home

To make your Jersey Mikes Cold Cut Italian Substitute at home, prep it by chopping the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The onion should be sliced thinly and then soaked in water to remove some of the raw onion bite. Jersey Mikes use white onions in their sandwiches, but we chose a slightly milder red onion for our sauce. Just a slight variation on the original classic sub.
Cut the Italian buns in half completely, so the two halves are completely separate. This makes assembling the sandwich easier instead of trying to stuff all the ingredients into a sub-roller envelope.
Start by assembling the Hoagie, inserting the Provolone first. The cheese acts as a barrier for the juice and keeps the sandwich from becoming soggy.
After the cheese has set, carefully place the meat on top so the sandwich is light and well-filled.

Do it Mike's way
To make an original Mikes Way Italian Substitute, top the sandwich with shredded lettuce, sliced onions, tomatoes and the juice. Finally sprinkle the tomatoes lightly with dried oregano and some salt.
Cover the bottom with the top bun and cut the bottom in half.
Get ready to enjoy the best tasting sub you've ever tasted. But make sure you invite your significant other to share your sub or you'll be in the kennel for a while! That's a mistake I won't make again.

Here it is. A taste of what we say in Maryland "on the Ocean," a freshly baked Italian bread that's a little crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. Freshly sliced Italian meats and cheeses carefully selected for fat, seasoning and flavor. Finish with crispy Mike's Way Greens and juice to tie it all together. Yes, can we please do another one?
